Explore Vienna’s nature with us and make new friends along the way!
The ACTIVE Outdoor Club brings young people together to explore the nature in and around Vienna. Whether you’ve just moved here to study or you’ve lived in Vienna all your life, you’re welcome to join!
Our hikes are for young people aged 18–30. They’re led in English, so international students and young internationals can join easily, and locals are just as welcome. Some of our hike leaders also speak other languages, so you might hear a few more along the way.
What we do
- City hikes: shorter walks of a few hours on Vienna’s city hiking trails (Stadtwanderwege) and in the Vienna Woods. Easy to reach by public transport and perfect for a weekend morning.
- Day trips: full-day hikes in the mountains and hills around Vienna. We provide refreshments for the group along the way.
- Overnight trips: hikes with a night in a mountain hut, for those who want to spend a whole weekend outdoors. The hut stay and refreshments are on us!
Some hikes come with a theme, such as an international picnic, a photo walk or a nature art activity.

Places are limited, so register early. You’ll receive a confirmation email with all the details.
Good to know
Our hikes are led by volunteer hike leaders, not professional guides. They show the way and keep the group together, but every participant is responsible for their own safety. Please bring suitable shoes, water and clothes for the weather.
