On the 26th of April, We organized a scenic hike into the Viennese woods with 11 hikers!
On Saturday morning, the group got to know each other through an introduction circle at the meeting point before tackling the 11 kilometres ahead of them. Reaching the top of the hilly route to Kahlenberg, the group stopped for a quick lunch overlooking the Danube and Vienna. Continuing their way down to the Nussberg vineyards, the group had a refreshment at one of the local taverns and discussed the topic of everyday gratitude.

The hikers were encouraged at the start of the hike to reflect on things they are grateful for but get lost in the everyday mundane. The hikers were inspired by the surrounding nature and their conversations, and a lot of them reflected on this opportunity to hike and meet others. This exercise helped to create a space for connection, gratitude, and mutual support.

The walk was organised as a part of the 3HUTS project, an initiative under the Erasmus+ Sport programme among Austria, Slovakia and Greece with the common goal of promoting participation in hiking among women. The project focuses on the inclusion of women’s needs in the planning and development of hiking infrastructure, aiming to create more inclusive outdoor experiences for all.
