Are you interested in sailing, women’s empowerment, and more inclusive sport? Join us in Ancona, Italy for an international SAILWISE training experience that combines sailing practice, learning, exchange, and community building.

This training is part of the SAILWISE – Sailing Women’s Initiative for Sport and Empowerment project, which aims to promote gender equality in sailing and support more women in accessing, enjoying, and staying active in this sport. The project also promotes sustainability, education through sport, and the creation of a stronger female sailing community across Europe. Bringing together partners from Austria, Slovakia, Poland, Italy ands Cyprus, SAILWISE focuses on identifying barriers that discourage women from taking part in sailing and developing practical, accessible solutions through education, mentoring, skills development, and international cooperation.

What is the training about?

The international training in Ancona is designed to enhance the skills and competences of sport coaches, sailors and sailing-related experts in planning and delivering sailing sessions, especially for women.

During the training, participants will take part in:

  • non-formal education activities
  • discussions and reflection sessions
  • collaborative work connected to the SAILWISE Toolkit
  • intercultural exchange with participants from other countries

From Bologna airport, participants can take a train to the main train station and then catch a train to Ancona, by searching on the Tren Italia website. Depending on the type of train, the journey from Bologna to Ancona can take between 2-3 hours.

Participants are required to keep all tickets and original boarding passes and after the training hand them over to the organiser or send upon return home.

Follow up activities

Please note that participation in the international training also includes a required follow-up activity after returning home. In the period after the training and by the end of August, each participant will be expected to organise one local activity involving at least 10 participants.

The aim of this follow-up event is to transfer the knowledge and skills gained during the training into practice and to test the newly acquired approaches “in the field” with women from the local community. This activity should help participants share what they learned, inspire other women to get involved in sailing or related activities, and contribute to the wider impact of the SAILWISE project at local level.
