University students working toward an internship, practicum, or praxis requirement can gain practical project experience with ACTIVE Austria, supporting our EU-funded work in youth, sport, and social inclusion in Vienna. Placements are typically unpaid and structured around your university’s own academic requirements.
What you might work on
The exact tasks depend on our current projects, which change over time, but placements have typically included things like:
- Stakeholder mapping and contact database research
- Desk research and needs analysis feeding into project reports
- Drafting and editing project documentation (reports, literature reviews)
- Meeting support (minutes, notes)
- Event and project coordination support
- Support with communication and dissemination materials (e.g. social media content, newsletters, translations)
- Contribution to monitoring and reporting (tracking project progress, gathering data for deliverables)
- Support with proposal research for new project ideas
Placements are a mix of remote and in-person work. Depending on the specific tasks and the placement period, some in-person presence in Vienna may be needed — for example, for meetings or events. That said, we’re also happy to work with students based outside Vienna, or in a different city altogether, and can set up a fully remote arrangement where that fits better.

Who this is for
Students who need to complete an internship, practicum, or praxis placement for their studies, with an interest in youth work, sport, gender equality, or EU project coordination — and who can commit consistent hours over the placement period. English is required, since it’s our internal working language. German is a plus, as some tasks involve German-language material, but it’s not a requirement.
How it works
The length of a placement depends mainly on the number of hours your university requires you to complete — we’re open to shorter placements as well as longer-term ones, depending on your program’s requirements. Weekly hours are worked out together based on your availability and what we need at the time; as a rough guide, around 5 hours per week is typical, though this can vary.
You’ll get a named supervisor at ACTIVE Austria and a simple work plan with milestones. If your university requires a confirmation or placement letter, we’re happy to provide one.
Hours are tracked in a shared timesheet, updated regularly by the student and visible to your supervisor at ACTIVE Austria — so both sides can see progress toward the required hours at any point.
How to apply
Send your CV, a short motivation, and your university’s placement requirements (dates, minimum hours, any forms we’d need to sign) to info @ euactive.org. We’ll get back to you and agree on the details together.
