Our Move Into Spring – Vienna Women’s Walking Challenge was successfully held throughout March, bringing together women from Vienna and the surrounding areas for a series of enjoyable and accessible group walks.

The goal was simple: walk, connect, and support each other in staying active.

This initiative was part of the WomenWalking4Health project, which focuses especially on supporting women experiencing perimenopause, menopause, and postmenopause. During this stage of life, staying physically active and socially connected can have an enormous positive impact on health and wellbeing.

We were very happy to welcome all women who joined the challenge across the different walks either as participants or walk leaders. Some joined regularly throughout the month, while others came for one or two walks, and it was wonderful to see both familiar and new faces each time.

The walks took place in a variety of lovely locations across Vienna and nearby green areas, including routes along the Donaukanal, around the Alte Donau, and in nature spots such as Maurer Wald and the Wienerwald area near Purkersdorf. This created a nice mix of urban and nature walks, allowing participants to experience different parts of the city while enjoying movement and fresh air.

How to Become a Walk Leader?

Would you like to help inspire other women to stay active and connected through walking?

As a Walk Leader, you can organise and lead walks in Vienna and the surrounding areas, whether it is a relaxed city walk, a park stroll, a nature hike, or a themed community activity. You are welcome to bring your own ideas and create experiences that reflect your interests and the needs of the group.
