CORE Training is a 6-day international Erasmus+ training course focused on strengthening communication, mediation and conflict-resolution skills in youth work. The training is organised under an Erasmus+ Youth Accreditation and brings together youth workers, volunteers and partner organisations working closely with young people with fewer opportunities, especially in rural and marginalised areas

Through non-formal education, practical exercises and peer learning, participants will explore how clear communication and constructive conflict management can improve teamwork, group dynamics and youth participation at local level.

What will you learn and do
During the training, participants will:
- Strengthen practical communication skills with a focus on clarity, inclusion and intentional language in youth work settings
- Learn and practise tools for mediation and conflict resolution, including prevention, de-escalation and constructive dialogue
- Explore approaches such as active listening, feedback, assertive communication and restorative perspectives adapted to real youth work contexts
- Work on teamwork and group dynamics, learning how to prevent conflicts and strengthen cooperation in youth groups
- Exchange good practices and real case studies with organisations from different countries, reinforcing peer learning and international networking
- Connect learning outcomes to the ETS Competence Model and reflect on professional development through Youthpass
Who can apply
This training is aimed at youth workers, volunteers and members of youth organisations who:
- Have a real connection to their sending organisation and its youth work activities
- Are able to actively participate during the entire training course
- Can work in English
- Are motivated to transfer and apply the acquired knowledge in their local work and organisations
Each organisation is expected to involve 1–2 participants who can later share and multiply the learning outcomes.
Practical Details
- Accommodation: Participants will stay at shared bedrooms in Pousadinha, a lodging centre belonging to the hosting organisation. Accommodation is shared, with free Wi-Fi in common areas and access to indoor and outdoor spaces that support group interaction. Bed linen, towels and basic toiletries are provided.
- Food: Fully covered 3x per day with 2 coffee breaks by the organisers with support from the Erasmus+ Programme.
- Youthpass: All participants are entitled to receive a Youthpass certificate recognised across EU youth work networks.
Travel arrangements
Travel costs will be reimbursed after the mobility, up to the maximum amounts set by Erasmus+: 395€ for participants traveling from Austria (535€ in case of green travel = no flights). Participants are required to keep all tickets and original boarding passes and after the training hand them over to the organiser or send upon return home.
The closest airport from Arcos de Valdevez is in Porto – Porto Airport (OPO). The are direct buses from Porto airport to Arcos de Valdevez.
